3rd Annual

Día de los Muertos

in the Woo Celebration

October 25th - November 2nd

Joy is at the center of our 2023 celebration.

We build a beautiful traditional Ofrenda (altar) to honor our ancestors and to highlight the beautiful cultural tradition which is celebrated in Mexico and several other Latin America countries including Ecuador, the birthplace of our resident artist Germán Chiriboga. In Ecuador it is called Día de Difuntos. Germán’s beautiful quinde “Espíritu”, also known as colibrí, chuparrosa, tucusito, or hummingbird will be the centerpiece of our commissioned work of art for 2023.

The multi-day celebration includes a Saturday festival with performances, vendors, and live music, as well as weeklong art exhibit, book club, VIP event and new this year - “Somos Latinidad” -Intersectional Identities Expressed through Art & Dialogue. Thank you to Greater Worcester Community Foundation for supporting Somos Latinidad.

Our first event was first held in October 2021 as a gift from our Crew to the community in remembrance of Latino/a/e people lost to the pandemic. The event was so popular that we have committed to bring this celebration to Worcester every year.
